Host Your Event at In Other Words

Host your next event at In Other Words Feminist Community Center in Portland, Oregon! Our event space is perfect for meetings, screenings, workshops, book readings, group discussions, musical performances, art openings, parties, and more!

First, please read through our Safer Space Policy. Then, complete the form at the bottom of this page to request use of our space for your event. Someone will get back to you within 5 business days.

Capacity:

Up to 80 people

The Event Space:

  • Flexible space set up, 50+ folding chairs, multiple and different sized tables available, several couches, small/low stage
  • Wheelchair accessible throughout main space (full accessibility info below)
  • ADA compliant gender-neutral bathroom
  • Projector, mic, or sound system available (by request and with a $20 fee for maintenance)
  • Accessible by public transportation
  • Temp liquor license available with $60 state license fee

No steps to the door, or inside the building
Short ramp between the two areas of the building inside
Aprox 3′ width for the entrance
Gender neutral bathroom
Variable wheelchair access to the bathroom – it’s wide, but there is a 90 degree turn from hallway to room, one rail on the wall parallel to the toilet
Ramp to the stage
Seating is pretty sturdy, slightly padded folding chairs (no arms) and some couches

Availability:

Our event space and community center is open for events 7 days a week with flexible hours in the morning and evening.

Monday-Thursday $40/hour
Friday, Saturday, Sunday $50/hour

If you’d like to rent the event space during paid times but can’t afford the fee, please indicate that in the ‘Additional Notes’ section of your space use request and we’ll see what we can do.

Community Event Submission

Your event must be approved by an IOW staff member before we’re able to host you. We reserve the right to deny the use of our space to any organization or event which does not abide by our Safer Space policy.

If your event is approved and a space use and/or equipment fee is due, you’ll need to pay the amount due in full prior to the date of your event. Please see the table in the section above for our current space use fees.
