Pan-African Women’s Day is a celebration of the militancy, brilliance, and power of the African women, girls, and femmes leading the global struggle for African revolution.
From Portland to Accra, African women, girls, and femmes are leading the work as our people fight for liberation from capitalism and colonialism. Women and femmes are shutting down highways, leading marches and rallies, creating powerful organizations, building and nurturing political and military alliances, facilitating meetings and workshops, giving world-shaking speeches, and taking up arms for resistance. Africans are making it clear to the world: a woman’s place is IN THE STRUGGLE.
All African People’s Revolutionary Party – Oregon’s lively Pan-African Women’s Day program will celebrate and uplift the stories of the African woman and femmes that are organizing for liberation in Portland and all over the world. We’ll have performances from African artists, a panel discussion with African women and femme organizers, a facilitated group discussion about the role of women and femmes in the revolution, delicious African food, music, and more!
Join AAPRP Oregon and members of Portland’s community of resistance from 5:30-8pm at In Other Words for discussion, connection, and a celebration of revolutionary African women and femmes! This event is FREE and open to the public. Childcare will be provided.
Doors and food at 5:30, program begins promptly at 6:00pm.
